#Updating Safely

#Before replacing the JAR

  1. Stop the server.
  2. Back up plugins/Blockcade/, especially stats.properties and edited YAML files.
  3. Replace the old JAR.
  4. Start the server and review warnings.
  5. Test one legacy and one resource-pack session.

Do not overwrite the plugin JAR while a development server is running. Java may load some classes later than others, and replacing the active archive can cause NoClassDefFoundError until a full restart.

#Configuration files

Existing files are preserved. New defaults are copied into Bukkit's configuration in memory where supported, but you should compare release notes and add any newly introduced keys to your files.

#Resource pack cache

The pack content produces a new SHA-1 when it changes. Minecraft should download the updated archive automatically. If a client keeps an old version, disconnect, clear the server pack cache and reconnect.

#Statistics

Statistics are UUID-keyed and stored separately from the JAR. Replacing the plugin does not erase them. Never delete stats.properties unless you intentionally want to reset all records.
